Bob's Rebel Training Camp 10/19/13

One aspect of airsoft that makes it a great hobby is the players. Honesty, integrity, and respect are all aspects that make airsoft what it is. Players who follow the rules and call their hits are always appreciated, and it is these qualities that often make the difference between a decent player and a great player.

New players learning the ropes

Although some veteran players may not realize it; many new players look up to them and are influenced by their actions. When they see a veteran player cheat, or fail to call their hit, then what is to stop the novice player from doing that as well? Everything from airsoft gun and tactical gear choice to behavior on the field affects the airsoft development of the novice generation. Our actions shape the future of airsoft.

Bob “The Axeman” Hildebrand

 Airsoft GI is interested in the survival and integrity of airsoft, and so we are hosting Bob “The Axeman”s Rebel Training Camp on October 19 for players with less than a year’s worth of airsoft experience and/or under 18 years old. At this camp, players will be taken under the wing of more experienced players and be shown the basics of movement, shooting, and leadership. This camp will build confidence, which will be beneficial to players in both airsoft, and outside in normal everyday activities.


This event is being hosted at the world famous SC Viper on 10/19/2013, which is a fantastic place for learning airsoft basics. Airsoft will live and die on its player base, and part of creating a responsible and honest community is introducing positive behaviors in the new player base. One day, these new players are going to be the bulk the airsoft player base, and only by teaching them now will we ensure the future of airsoft.

KWA KRISS Vector – Why the Hype?

The KRISS Vector by KWA was a much anticipated gas airsoft gun for multiple reasons. The TDI Vector was featured in both movies and video games including Total Recall, Resident Evil: Retribution, Call of Duty and Army of Two. It’s high tech and futuristic look garnered the attention of many viewers and players alike. However, aside from these facts, the main aspect of this sub machine gun that makes it a unique specimen from the rest of its comrades is it’s blowback design.

Originally designed by Renaud Kerbart, the KRISS system allows the bolt and slider to rotate off-axis behind the magazine. When firing an actual bullet, this results in heavily dampened recoil. The video below depicts this cycling mechanism in action.


This unique action, in addition to the barrel being in line with the shooter’s shoulder and hand makes the KRISS Vector’s recoil and muzzle climb extremely reduced. Minimizing the recoil and muzzle climb means that the gun is capable of firing a .45 ACP with the recoil of a .40 S&W or 9mm.

What does this have to do with airsoft you ask? Well, the answer is that KWA recreated the KRISS system faithfully. The KRISS Vector by KWA features the same bolt and slider rotation system as its real steel counterpart. This means that although this is a gas blow back sub-machine gun, there’s is a minimal amount of recoil.

This KWA gas gun features everything you might expect from a high grade training weapon including a functioning bolt catch, bolt release, and a high grade polymer body. In addition to that, KWA also included a “double tap” two round burst, firing two shots near instantly.

With all the features listed, it is no wonder that the KRISS Vector was such an anticipated release. Was the hype justified? I’d think so, as this gun faithfully recreates the KRISS Vector, unique cycling system and everything, along with all the quality one might expect from KWA.

Airsoft GI Lends a Helping Hand

 

Recently, Airsoft GI has gotten in touch with Pheasants Forever, a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and enhancement of pheasants and other wildlife populations in North America.

The Buffalo Ridge Chapter of the organization, located in Lincoln City, Minnesota, is hosting its annual banquet to help introduce over 50 area youth to the wonders of the outdoors and have asked us to assist them in any way we see fit.

A-TACS LE Edition

The A-TACS LE camouflage print was developed in conjunction with law enforcement professionals. It has been described as a uniform meant to be a “show of force” pattern, not designed for concealment. This definitely seems to be the case, as this pattern is both stylish and recognizable. Be prepared to see tactical entry teams and specialized units to start sporting these colors.

After years of being around firearms, tactical gear, going out shooting, training, and practice, I found out that for some situations keeping it simple is actually better. When I first started playing airsoft back in 2005 I had a replica CIRAS plate carrier with an excessive amount of pouches on it. The plate carrier was extremely heavyI did not really need all the pouches I had. It was not until I got into firearms that I realized “less is more”. You could do more with less equipment because of the weight and simplicity factor.

If you have read my previous articles, you know that I run a Banshee Plate Carrier and Suregrip Battle Belt system for my primary loadout. The pouches on my plate carrier and battle belt are bare essentials. I not only save weight, but simplicity can make me more efficient on grabbing my equipment out of the pouches. That is the reason why I like Gryffon, the new gear company that just surfaced on the tactical gear market. One particular item caught my eye is the Universal Shooter Belt. I already have a lot of ways to utilize this belt system.

Before I get into the different ways I can utilize this belt, let me first go over the special features. First, this belt is constructed with a tough tactical nylon. It has hook and loop on it, which means it is fully adjustable to any waist size. The belt included 2 belt keepers, which are also made with durable nylon. The Universal Shooter Belt comes with 2 pouches; a double rifle magazine pouch, and a dump pouch.

The Rifle Magazine pouch is universal. It can fit M4/M16 magazines, AK Magazines, G36 Magazines, SR25 / SCAR H magazine, etc. The dump pouch is also made with high durable tactical nylon, and it has a draw string which can be tightened to secure the cargo inside the dump pouch. The straw string can also be hidden inside the pouch, makingit very stream lined. The pouch is built for this belt, so there is no MOLLE backing. The mounting slot on the pouches are 2 inches wide, which is the same width on the belt. There are no up and down “play” on the pouches, which makes this belt a very solid platform.

Not only is this belt perfect for airsoft use, but it is also great for recreational shooting sport. I can take this belt out to a range and run drills with it. The magazine pouches are perfect for me to run my AR15 efficiently and effectively. The dump pouch is key when I need to do a tactical reload. This belt system is terrific for those of you just want a decent belt to hold your magazines.

 

This belt can also be used in a 3 gun competition. 3 guns competition consist of handgun, shotgun and rifle, in any order. This belt system can hold your rifle magazines, and the dump pouch can hold your shot guns shells. The dump pouch can hold a lot of shotgun shells so you can have a shotgun day on the range. The dump pouch’s open top design makes grabbing the shells easy, and with the pull string pulled, it can secure your cargo inside that dump pouch.

 

I would highly recommend this belt because of the adaptability and the simplicity. Most of you think this belt system will cost you somewhere about 30 to 40 dollars. However, I am delighted to announce that Airsoft GI will be selling this belt system for only $14.99. War combatants are required to carry a large number of items on their person; such as: ballistic plates, trauma kits, radio equipment, night vision, and other important tactical equipment. Airsoft doesn't require these items in order to participate, and so airsoft kits are generally lighter.
